Karen Nichols has been an integral member of multiple project teams. She was the Principal-in-Charge for the renovation and expansion of The Newark Museum in Newark, New Jersey, the master plan of the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2003, Karen was elevated to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the practice of architecture. Karen sits on the NJIT School of Architecture Board of Visitors. She has designed more than 35 exhibitions, and has edited seven monographs on the work of the firm.

The studios’ award winning work has been published broadly and been recognized for its architectural approach to the infrastructure of place. In addition to design awards from the AIA, ASLA and APA they received the League Prize and Emerging Voices from the Architectural League of New York. Claire co-founded The Design Trust for Public Space. She is on faculty at New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service and a visiting critic of Urban Design at Cornell’s College of Architecture, Art and Planning in NYC. She received her professional degree from The University of Toronto with honors and her Master’s in Architecture from Yale University.

Yolande Daniels, AIA
Yolande Daniels is a recipient of the Rome Prize in Architecture, fellowships from the MacDowell Colony and the Independent Study Program of the Whitney American Museum of Art, and, a travel grant from American Institute of Architects NY Chapter. She is a co-founding design principal of studioSUMO which has been the recipient of various awards including: Emerging Voices, Design Vanguard and Young Architects Forum, and the recipient of grants from the New York State Council on the Arts and New York Foundation for the Arts. She has taught architecture at the graduate level at Columbia University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Michigan, Parsons School of Constructed Environments, Pratt Institute and City College and held the Silcott Chair at Howard University. She received architecture degrees from Columbia University (M.ARCH 90) and City College, CUNY (BS.ARCH 87).
I'm SVP of Social Media for digital creative agency Big Spaceship – I started and lead our social practice, with clients including YouTube, Google Play, Google Maps, Samsung Mobile, Purina, Sonos and Skittles. Before my six years at Big Spaceship, I wrote, produced and marketed the award-winning documentary Second Skin, and produced the documentary that launched Motherboard, Vice's tech channel. In between I helped a number of startups with social media marketing, and was managing editor of Popten.
Wendy Evans Joseph is a recognized practicing architect in New York City and founder of Studio Joseph. She designs each of the firm’s projects and is intimately involved with her clients and the progress of all projects. Under Ms. Joseph’s leadership, Studio Joseph has completed a diverse spectrum of commercial, residential, and cultural projects. Ms. Joseph’s in-depth knowledge of art and museum culture has led to a strong commitment to exhibition installation, which has comprised an important part of Studio Joseph’s work. The mission of the Adaptive Design Association (ADA) is to ensure that people with disabilities receive the custom adaptations they need to fulfill their developmental, social, academic, and vocational potential; and to instigate widespread replication by providing a full range of hands-on education, from basic introduction to rigorous apprenticeships, for people wanting to establish Adaptive Design Centers within their schools, organizations, and communities across the globe. We envision a day when Adaptive Design Centers are operating in communities, schools, and organizations everywhere; and when all people with disabilities are fully educated, employed, and valued, in every family, society, and country.
Mark Rakatansky, principal of Mark Rakatansky Studio, is an architect and writer whose work focuses on the performative and transformative capabilities of design. These modes are explored in a diverse range of projects, most recently in the Jakarta residence Permana, the apartment Inner Liner, the urban installation Open Stacks, the clock Roman Time, and a forthcoming study on themes of transformation in Italian architecture including the works of Raphael, Giulio Romano, Palladio, Piranesi, and Luigi Moretti.He is the author of Tectonic Acts of Desire and Doubt (2012), the ninth volume in the Architecture Words series of the Architectural Association. Mark is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University.

Professor Ed Johnston and his collaborative student researchers have been working on a series of projects involving the use of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies to improve accessibility and enrich experiences within Liberty Hall Museum. In this presentation, Professor Johnston will share the development of this creative research with students and discuss the benefits of pursuing internal awards.
Craig is the newly appointed Assistant Professor of Architecture in the School of Public Architecture in the Michael Graves College at Kean University in Union NJ. He was formerly Adjunct Assistant Professor of Architecture in the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (GSAPP) at Columbia University and in the Graduate School of Architecture at Pratt Institute. Craig is a frequent lecturer and critic at other architecture schools and associations. Craig Konyk has been named an Emerging Voice by the Architectural League of New York and was a finalist for the Rome Prize in Urban Design by the American Academy in Rome. He has served on the Boards of Creative Time, the Architectural League of New York and The Architect’s Newspaper.
Jeff is a self-taught computer artist with over 29 years of experience. Having arrived on the desktop publishing scene so early, he became the “go to” guy for answers when others started getting into computer graphics. Today Jeff is an Adobe Certified Instructor for Adobe Illustrator CC and Adobe InDesign CC with training clients throughout the USA. Plus he is Adobe’s Co-Representative to the InDesign User Group of New Jersey and an Adjunct Professor at Kean University, Robert Busch School of Design.
