With the firm since 1977, Karen Nichols has been an integral member of multiple project teams. She was the Principal-in-Charge for the renovation and expansion of The Newark Museum in Newark, New Jersey, the master plan of the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2003, Karen was elevated to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the practice of architecture. Karen sits on the NJIT School of Architecture Board of Visitors. She has designed more than 35 exhibitions and has edited seven monographs on the work of the firm.
Founded in 1964 by AIA Gold Medalist Michael Graves, MGA&D has a unique multidisciplinary practice that offers strategic advantages to clients worldwide. Lillian Agutu

Lilly Agutu holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Michael Graves College School of Public Architecture at Kean University and a Masters in Architecture degree from Yale University. Post-graduation, she received a travel fellowship which saw her travel to cities along the Swahili coast in Kenya. While there, she studied the evolution of Swahili cities and architecture from the medieval period to its distinct present aesthetic. Her passions in architecture lie between the singular built form and the urban fabric into which it stitches.

Max is a creative director based in New York. He has worked with some of the largest brands in the world including Apple, Google, Adidas, CNN, Instagram and The Washington Post. He occasionally finds time to make music and pet dogs.

Jesus Vega

Richard W. Hayes
Architect and Architectural Historian
Richard W. Hayes is an architect and architectural historian, educated at Columbia and Yale Universities. His previous publications include The Yale Building Project: The First 40 Years, a comprehensive history of the influential educational program. He has also published extensively on 19th -century British architecture, including a chapter in E.W. Godwin: Aesthetic Movement Architect and Designer edited by Susan Weber Soros. The book received numerous awards and was selected as “one of the most notable books of the year” by the New York Times. Since then, Hayes has published six articles on Godwin in peer-reviewed journals. In a career combining practice and scholarship, Hayes has received grants and awards from the American Institute of Architects, the American Architectural Foundation, the Graham Foundation, the Paul Mellon Centre, the European Architectural History Network, New York State Council on the Arts, the MacDowell Colony, and Yaddo. A visiting fellow at the University of Cambridge in 2009 and 2013, he is now a life member of Clare Hall. He currently works for Alexander Gorlin Architects.
