Interactive. Immersive. Electrifying. The new Visualization and Immersive Studio for Education and Research (VISER) at Kean University breaks down the four walls of the classroom and offers Kean students a new learning experience. In this experience, Piranesi drawings seem to come to life!

Center for Immersive Experiences (CIE) Demonstrations

The CIE offers students the opportunity to do hands-on work in VR and other extended reality technologies, through internships and research projects. The CIE design research center is a space where Professor Patel and colleagues collaborate with MGC students on engaging experience design projects.

Alternative Career Paths for Designers and Architects: Freelancing and Academia

As an up-and-coming designer or architect, you have more choices than just waiting around for your dream job to materialize. Grab the bull by the horns and determine your own destiny! Freelancing is an alternative that might be attractive to employers who can't commit to hiring full-time, or to clients who want a personalized experience. Additionally, if you enjoyed your time here and ever wondered what it would be like to be on the other side of the classroom, why not consider researching or teaching? Join Professor MJ Divino in a discussion about these two paths - both of which he has extensive experience - this Thinking Creatively season!

Studying in Rome? Start with Basic Italian…

This workshop introduces you to basic sounds, words and phrases to help you start an understanding of the Italian language. Taught by Italian language teacher and native speaker she will guide you on further study and answer any questions you might have about Italy! Students who have studied in Rome will also be presenting their advice and encouragement.


Writing a Script: Designing Algorithms using Grasshopper for Rhino

This workshop introduces the parametric design tool, Grasshopper, a visual aid for generating computer algorithms.
Participants should have a version of Rhino 5 or later with the Grasshopper plugin installed and ready to use before the event.
A trial (or the full version) of the software can be obtained at https://www.rhino3d.com/download/
Prior familiarity with Rhino is encouraged.

The Time Traveler’s experience was created by students and faculty in the Michael Graves College at Kean University through a multi-year project partnership with the Nantucket Historical Association.
